To commemorate one year since the death of the great artist Michael Kane, here are some behind-the-scenes photographs from his studio, taken when I was working there a few years ago. My portrait of Michael was acquired for the National Gallery of Ireland in 2024. He kept producing powerful work right up until the end, a good way for an artist to live.
